Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a ceiling fan where there's currently a light fixture?
Often yes, but the existing ceiling box must be fan-rated to support the weight and movement of a ceiling fan. A standard light fixture box is not strong enough. We check the existing box and upgrade it if necessary as part of the installation.
Do I need separate switches for the fan and light?
It depends on your preference and the existing wiring. If only one wire runs to the ceiling, we can wire for a single switch and use a pull chain or remote to control the fan and light separately. If you want wall switches for each, we can run the necessary wiring.
Can you install a ceiling fan on a vaulted or angled ceiling?
Yes. Fans installed on angled ceilings require a sloped ceiling adapter and a longer downrod to hang correctly. We select the appropriate hardware for your ceiling angle during the installation.
What size fan do I need for my room?
Fan blade span should generally match the room size — smaller fans for rooms under 75 square feet, mid-size fans for rooms up to 175 square feet, and larger fans for bigger spaces. We can advise on the right size based on your room during the estimate.
Do you install fans supplied by the customer?
Yes. If you've already purchased your fan, we install it. Just make sure it's appropriate for the location — outdoor fans for covered porches, for instance — and we'll handle the rest.
