Stay Comfortable Year-Round.

A properly installed ceiling fan improves airflow, reduces your reliance on air conditioning in summer, and helps circulate warm air in winter. Joel Watsky Electric handles everything — from swapping out an old fan to running new wiring in a room that's never had one.

Improved Comfort

Ceiling fans create a wind-chill effect in summer that makes a room feel cooler without lowering the thermostat, and in winter, reversing the blade direction pushes warm air down from the ceiling.

Lower Energy Bills

Running a ceiling fan costs a fraction of what an air conditioner uses. Supplementing your AC with ceiling fans lets you raise the thermostat a few degrees without sacrificing comfort.

Safe, Secure Installation

Ceiling fans are heavy and spin constantly — they require a rated ceiling box and proper wiring to operate safely. A licensed electrician ensures your fan is installed correctly and won't come loose over time.

Ceiling Fan Services

Replacements, New Installations, and Everything In Between

Joel Watsky Electric installs ceiling fans in any room of your home or office throughout Delmarva.

Fan Replacement

Replacing an existing ceiling fan is straightforward when the wiring and ceiling box are already in place. We remove the old fan and install your new one cleanly and correctly.

New Fan Installation

Installing a fan in a room that doesn't have one requires running new wiring and installing a fan-rated ceiling box. We handle the full installation from wiring to mounting.

Switch and Control Wiring

We wire separate switches for the fan and light kit so you can control each independently, or wire for a remote control receiver if your fan supports it.

Outdoor Fan Installation

Covered porches and screened rooms benefit from outdoor-rated ceiling fans. We install damp- or wet-rated fans designed to handle humidity and weather exposure.

Ceiling Box Upgrade

Standard light fixture boxes are not rated to support a ceiling fan's weight and motion. If your existing box isn't fan-rated, we replace it with one that is before installing your new fan.

Multiple Fan Installations

Outfitting an entire home or vacation rental with ceiling fans? We install multiple fans in a single visit, coordinating wiring and placement for each room efficiently.

How We Install Your Ceiling Fan

A ceiling fan that wobbles, hums, or isn't balanced correctly is a sign of an improper installation. Joel Watsky Electric installs every fan securely and tests it thoroughly before the job is done.

1. Assess the Existing Wiring and Box

We check whether the existing ceiling box is fan-rated and whether the wiring supports separate fan and light control. If not, we address it before installing the fan.

2. Run Wiring If Needed

For rooms without an existing ceiling fixture, we run new wiring from a nearby circuit and install a fan-rated box in the ceiling at the right location.

3. Mount and Wire the Fan

We mount the fan housing securely, connect all wiring to code, and attach the blades and light kit according to the manufacturer's specifications.

4. Test and Balance

We run the fan at all speeds, test the light, and use a balancing kit if needed to eliminate any wobble before finishing up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install a ceiling fan where there's currently a light fixture?

Often yes, but the existing ceiling box must be fan-rated to support the weight and movement of a ceiling fan. A standard light fixture box is not strong enough. We check the existing box and upgrade it if necessary as part of the installation.

Do I need separate switches for the fan and light?

It depends on your preference and the existing wiring. If only one wire runs to the ceiling, we can wire for a single switch and use a pull chain or remote to control the fan and light separately. If you want wall switches for each, we can run the necessary wiring.

Can you install a ceiling fan on a vaulted or angled ceiling?

Yes. Fans installed on angled ceilings require a sloped ceiling adapter and a longer downrod to hang correctly. We select the appropriate hardware for your ceiling angle during the installation.

What size fan do I need for my room?

Fan blade span should generally match the room size — smaller fans for rooms under 75 square feet, mid-size fans for rooms up to 175 square feet, and larger fans for bigger spaces. We can advise on the right size based on your room during the estimate.

Do you install fans supplied by the customer?

Yes. If you've already purchased your fan, we install it. Just make sure it's appropriate for the location — outdoor fans for covered porches, for instance — and we'll handle the rest.
